As technology rapidly evolves, it becomes increasingly difficult to differentiate
between a worthwhile investment and the next “shiny new toy.” Process mining continues
to gain popularity in shared services, with SSON’s recent State of the Industry report
showing that 52% of organizations continue to prioritize investment in the tool. So why
should organizations consider expanding into PI?
Data collected at SSON’s 2024 Process Mining and BPM Virtual Summit shows that 49% of
organizations are already leveraging process mining tools, with another 34% planning to
implement them.
Enable strategic automation. As organizations benefit from greater efficiency levels
through technological advances, successful automation is critical.
Operational Excellence. To begin working toward operational excellence (OPEX), companies
must be able to measure any performance gaps to identify root causes, evaluate optional
improvement opportunities, build a business case for improvements, and continually
monitor the impact of those improvements.
Improve regulatory compliance. 56% of organizations have made compliance a strategic
goal this year, up 42% from last year. Failure to meet regulatory requirements can
damage reputation, trigger costly legal issues, and reduce employee morale.
Increase strategic alignment. Strategic alignment “bridges the gap between strategy
formulation and execution by ensuring that all elements of an organization are working
toward common goals.”
End-to-End Visibility. PI enables end-to-end (E2E) visibility by integrating data from
numerous data sources, creating a unified view of the entire process.
AI Data Collection. The volume and complexity of data required for a successful PI
project may prevent businesses from leveraging the tool.
“Talking” to your processes. Generative AI is redefining human-tech collaboration as
organizations are now able to “talk” to their processes.
Predictive Capabilities. AI’s advanced predictive capabilities are also a powerful
addition to the PI platform as they allow for proactive problem solving.
Agentic AI. AI is designed to be an autonomous agent that is able to perform tasks and
make decisions without direct human intervention.
